Carved Wooden Incense Burner with Eight Auspicious Symbols

£39.00
Only 1 available

This wooden incense box is handmade in Nepal, with a burning compartment lined with metal and a pull-out drawer for incense storage. The box is 14” long, allowing for a full stick to burn safely, and is perfect for a home shrine, meditation hall, or yoga studio.

In the Tibetan tradition, burning incense is always kept off of the altar itself. Incense is burned below the shrine, usually in a long box placed on the floor. With a convenient wooden flap, this burner is ideal for keeping the hot ember free from any fabric or other materials. It’s considered auspicious to make burnt offerings (like incense) in a special container, sometimes imagined as a cairn of precious jewels.

Always take great care when burning incense. It is best to fill the bottom of the metal pan with a little bit of sand before setting the burning stick lengthwise within the compartment.
